How can we imagine the future? With seven dancers and musicians, Faustin Linyekula takes us to the heart of his native country and invites us to build together a new future.
Somewhere between the cry from the cradle there is a More more more… future, a particular kind of sound space. Submerged in this musical atmosphere bodies adopt movements, witness or develop new expressions, evoke visions of the future mixed with imaginative ideas. The choreographer and narrator Faustin Linyekula who originates from what is known today as The Democratic Republic of the Congo, has followed the history of his country since 2000 and the course of these events have deeply influenced his work and artistic destiny. It was in 2008 that the project More more more… future began to be sketched out. A new generation of Congolese people wanted to be heard. “ We want much more for the future and leave behind the ruins that we have inherited” To express the new voices of these people, the chorographer has brought together a group of artists. With his collaborators he stages a Ndombolo concert, a Congolese pop music that shares the wild rhythm and challenging energy of Punk. Through this music, movement and dance expressing the hopes of these people, Faustin Linyekula questions the Congolese society of today.
