It’s easily the best MMA card of this year so much on Saturday night from Las Vegas as a light heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and UFC 235 is highlighted by rival Anthony Smith.
The five-fight principal card is expected to start at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view. Here’s a peek at those spells — and the previous prelim — and their Sports Interaction UFC odds.
Jon Jones vs. Anthony Smith
Records: Jones (23-1), Smith (31-13)
Division: Light heavyweight
UFC Odds: Jones -850 Prediction: Jones by decision Mixed martial arts dropped one of its greats lately to retirement in Georges St-Pierre, certainly the best MMA fighter. GSP is on the list of the best of all time irrespective of division. The very best? One could make an argument for the 31-year-old Jones. In the Octagon, he has no peer. He appears to derail his career from it, whether because of issues or failing drug tests. In 2011, Jones became the youngest champion in UFC history, and he never dropped it. But a drug test could come out following Jones beat on Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 and Jones was suspended and stripped from the light heavyweight belt.
It was earned by jones back in December using a third-round knockout of Alexander Gustafsson, but that arrived with an asterisk. Jones tested positive and also the state of Nevada would not give a licence to fight to him. So the entire card, in a move, was altered to Los Angeles. The 30-year-old Smith is a former middleweight who has fought at pounds for under a year. He is on an impressive series over Mauricio Rua Volkan Oezdemir and Rashad Evans. There is some discussion Jones may face Cormier, the heavyweight champ, with a win although Jones (unofficially) has beaten him twice .
